The 53-year-old former GMA3 anchor, who tied the knot with TJ Holmes in Arkansas in September 2026, took to Instagram to share a gorgeous selfie of herself holding up three fingers

"13 years ago today I was diagnosed with breast cancer… this photo was taken during round 3 of chemo," she captioned the post. "Today I think back to those days and remain grateful for each and every morning I wake up. On this final day of breast cancer awareness month, please remember to LIVE more, LOVE more and get those mammograms!"

Followers were quick to thank her for the PSA, and many shared their own cancer journeys.

In November 2022, Amy opened up exclusively to  about her 2013 diagnosis, and how her GMA co-anchors, including Robin Roberts, had helped her through the following months.

"So many of us have leaned on each other and supported each other and it's been great to have a vehicle and a platform to talk about this cause, but also to have the incredible co-workers I have," she said during the Estee Lauder Breast Cancer Research Foundation Luncheon in New York City.

At the time of her diagnosis, Amy was working as an anchor on the ABC morning show, and had been assigned to undergo a mammogram on live television in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

A month later, she revealed that the mammogram had revealed cancer, and she took time off from broadcasting to undergo a bilateral mastectomy.

Weeks after the initial announcement, she revealed a second malignant tumor in her other breast had been discovered, and that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. Amy then underwent eight rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and reconstructive surgery.

She announced in March 2022 that she was cancer-free.

Seven months later, in December 2022, Amy and T.J. were put on leave from their roles at ABC after it emerged they were in a relationship amid rumors of an affair. In January 2026, they were let go from ABC.

The pair have always denied an affair, and insisted that they were separated from their respective partners.

In 2024, speaking on an episode of their podcast, Amy admitted she had not seen her doctor since August 2022, ignoring medical advice to get blood work every six months.

"The last time I had blood work done was August 2022, and it's been weighing on me, as up to that point I was having it done every six months as recommended by my oncologist," shared Amy, "but then all hell broke loose. We were going through our hell, and it was the last thing on my mind."

She continued: "I think anyone who has survived this knows that when you go in for the blood work it's emotional because they are looking for tumor markers. If it was to come back in the places you don't want it to…a blood test that shows a marker means you would be facing terminal cancer, and the fear of that leaves you in the mindset of 'I would rather not know'."

The pair were joined by Dr. Elizabeth Comen, who spoke about the gender gap when it comes to healthcare, and why women are not treated the same as men.

Dr Comen also cleared up Amy's fears, sharing that not all tumor markers that appear in blood work are "necessarily cancer, as lots of other things can elevate them."
