In Monaco's Grand Prix ten days ago Jacques Villeneuve settled for 14th place, but he had plenty of reason to celebrate over the weekend as he tied the knot with his French sweetheart Johanna Martinez.
Jacques and his radiant 21-year-old bride, in a fairytale strapless gown with a full tulle skirt and veil, ducked happily as guests showered them with confetti on the steps of a Paris church.
The nuptials in the French capital were the second stage of festivities for the lovebirds. A day after speeding through the streets of the Monegasque principality, the 35-year-old racing driver exchanged vows with the brunette in a civil ceremony in Switzerland at the 12th-century fortress of Chateau d'Aigle.
After the wedding the bride and groom dined with 30 of their close friends and family in the resort town of Villars-sur-Ollon, near Jacques' home in the Alps. Johanna will have been strictly off the bubbly, however, as the happy couple are said by the Canadian press to be expecting their first child next October.
It was a case of fourth time lucky for the 1997 Formula One world champion. He's previously been engaged to Sandrine Gros D'Aillon, a college student from Montreal, Australian pop star Dannii Minogue and American ballet dancer Ellie Green.
