In a bid to find a distinctive present for her fiance's thirty-fifth birthday, songstress Katy Perry has treated Russell Brand to something that truly is out of this world - a trip into outer-space.
She spent a soaring $200,000 on the ticket, which will allow comedian Russell to travel at a rate three times the speed of sound 365,000ft into the atmosphere.
He will then get the opportunity to float weightlessly in space for five minutes, before heading back to earth to receive his astronaut wings and pop open a bottle of champagne.
Virgin Galactic representative Louella Faria said: "We are very excited to have him onboard.
"There will be 17-inch diameter windows to look out onto. Passengers will be able to view Earth around 800 miles in any direction from space," she added.
The spaceship is currently being tested, but a succesful inaugural test flight earlier this year suggests that the Get Him to the Greek star shouldn't have to wait too much longer to rocket his way into the cosmos.
However, Russell was far from being on top of the world this weekend when a heavy truck ploughed into the back of his rented Lambourghini, in which he was a passenger.
Although he escaped relatively unharmed with only a few cuts and bruises, he was said to be "shell shocked" after the incident.
Katy, meanwhile, was performing at the MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia looking very glam in a white all-in-one leotard covered in diamond sequins and a tutu over the top.
