Wednesday November 3, 2010

Their trip to the Big Apple included a visit to Ground Zero supporting Norwegian architects involved in the reconstruction effort, but all journalists really wanted to know about was Prince Haakon's marriage.

Asked the secret to nurturing the romance in his nine-year union with Princess Mette-Marit, Norway's future king quipped: "A weekend in New York".

Norwegian firm Snøhetta, based in Oslo, won the prestigious commission to design the Museum Pavilion located in the Memorial Plaza.

Due to open on September 11, 2001, the pavilion will be the only building in the square.

It will comprise the entrance to the subterranean museum of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center.

Columns recovered from the ruins of the Twin Towers constitute key elements of the construction.
