Queen Mother autobiography to be released

Private thoughts from the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, are to be revealed to the public next month when her long-awaited autobiography goes on sale.

The book, by William Shawcross, includes numerous transcripts that the Queen Mother secretly recorded before her passing in 2002 at the age of 101.

Both the Queen and Prince Charles were interviewed for the book, and have each read the completed manuscript.

The British monarch approved writer William, who is a close friend of the Duchess of Cornwall.

And the thoughts of the late Queen Mother are eagerly anticipated. She only ever gave one interview in her life, when she became engaged to the Duke of York at the age of 22.

The book - titled Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother: The Official Biography, and described as "the definitive portrait of a remarkable woman - is on sale from September 17.
