World champion boxer Joe Frazier has died, aged 67, after battling liver cancer.

Joe won an Olympic gold medal in 1964, and is best remembered for being the man who inflicted Muhammed Ali's first professional loss.

He became world champion in 1970 following Ali's absence from the sport after he refused to enroll for the Vietnam war.

But when 'the greatest' returned to boxing he lost to Frazier in a highly anticipated fight.

Joe continued at the top of his game for many years and was one best boxers in the world.

Sadly he was recently diagnosed with cancer and lost his battle on November 7 2011.

His great rival Muhammad Ali led the tributes to the sports legend:

"The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration,"

"My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones."

Former champ George Foreman tweeted: "Good night Joe Frazier. I love you dear friend."

Serena Williams also led tributes saying he was "inspiring and loved.

"Your presence will be missed," she added.
