Placido Domingo to make full recovery after surgery

Spanish tenor Placido Domingo is expected to make a full recovery following surgery to remove a cancerous polyp from his colon, his spokeswoman has confirmed.

The 69-year-old - pictured at the Grammy Awards in January - underwent the operation last week at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital and was released on Monday.

Doctors have ordered the singer, who was one third of the Three Tenors alongside Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras, to rest for six weeks.

"His exact return to his performing engagements remains subject to how fast he can heal and regain his characteristic strength," his spokesperson continues.
