Anne Widdecombe has 'Strictly' no intention of quitting

There were rumblings of discontent among some Strictly fans after Jimi Mistry bowed out of the competion while Anne Widdecombe stayed on.

But the former politician says she has no intention of "doing a John Sergeant" by quitting the show.

John pulled out two years ago, saying that the thought he might win the competition would be "a joke too far".

But Anne says: "I won't take a leaf out of John Sergeant's book and quit. It would be a slap in the face of the public.

"As long as the public want me there, I'll stay. When they don't want me, I'll go – I'll have to."

The 63-year-old added: "If people don't like how the public vote, it's bad luck. They should try being a politician."
