Charlotte Church has assured her fans she has not proposed to her musician boyfriend.

The singer's comment follows a report the mother of two had popped the question to Jonathan Powell while singing on stage at a pub.

But Charlotte denied she had done so and called the claim "a complete fabrication".

In a statement she said: "I have not proposed to my boyfriend, drunkenly or otherwise.

"It is embarrassing for me and him, for our families and friends, to read that I have."

Charlotte, 25, said she had not been in the Cardiff pub, The Robin Hood, in question, for five months.

"At the time that I was apparently drunkenly proposing I was in fact performing in a completely different town with a large public audience," she added.
