Queen's Bond star corgi dies aged 13

Royal corgi Monty has died at the age of 13.

Like his owner, the royal's beloved family pet was no stranger to the public eye.

The pooch starred in the infamous Olympic opening ceremony short alongside James Bond, performed by Daniel Craig, and the Queen.

Monty performed tummy rolls and ran down the Buckingham Palace stairs alongside doggy companions Willow and Holly.

One of the Queen's dorgi's, Cider - a cross breed between a corgi and a daschund - has also died.

The Queen owns two other corgis called Candy and Vulcan, as well as two Pembroke corgis called Willow and Holly, descended from corgi Susan who was given to her for her 18th birthday.

The royal family corgi tradition began in 1933, when the future King George VI bought corgi Dookie.
