Prince Nikolaos of Greece has become engaged to his long-term love of five years, Tatiana Blatnik.

The handsome royal - son of exiled Greek monarch King Constantine - is believed to have popped the question during family festivities on December 27.

In a note posted on the royal website, the former king said he and wife, HM Queen Anne-Marie, "are delighted" by the news.

An events planner for Diane von Furstenberg, Tatiana - who is currently celebrating the announcement with the royal family in the seaside resort of Porto-Heli - is the granddaughter of late US politician John A Blatnik.

Forty-year-old Nikolaos has previously been linked with supermodel Elle Macpherson and actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
