Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor is reportedly engaged to her long-term personal companion Jason Winters, a Los Angeles-based talent agent nearly three decades her junior.

The couple, who have attended many public events together, were believed to enjoy nothing more than a friendship together until last year, when Elizabeth described James as "one of the most wonderful men I've ever known", adding "that's why I love him".

News of their potential nuptials broke on Friday, when US Weekly magazine quoted a source close to the couple saying: "It's no secret that they've been together forever and are in love, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they were engaged. Right now they are keeping it between them".

The 78-year-old actress is more than familiar with the role of bride-to-be. Her previous husbands include her Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? co-star Richard Burton and hotel magnate Conrad Hilton.
