Sir Alan Sugar: 'I made my sons work at McDonald's

Wednesday May 12, 2010

He may be one of the wealthiest businessmen in Britain, but Sir Alan Sugar has his feet firmly on the ground.

The Apprentice star has revealed he sent his sons to work at McDonald's to "toughen them up".

"My kids, who are not kids now at 38 and 35, would tell you I was a very wealthy man when they were 16 and 17 and they were sent out to work," Sir Alan tells The Sun.

"One of my sons wanted money so I said, 'Go on, work in McDonald's to see what the other half of the world do'. He went out to work in McDonald's in Ilford on a Saturday. It toughened him up a bit.

"I and my wife took the time to make sure they had their heads screwed on and their feet firmly on the ground."
