Just days after his team took third spot at the World Cup, German national captain Philipp Lahm had another reason to smile.

The 26-year-old footballer said 'I do' to girlfriend of two years Claudia Schattenberg, 25, in two ceremonies on Wednesday.

The handsome couple began their special day with a casual and intimate civil ceremony at the city hall in Aying, Germany.

And after lunching with a small group of friends and family, the two celebrated their union in fairytale fashion.

The beautiful bride changed into a stunning princess gown while the groom chose a classic black and white tuxedo for the religious ceremony.

Later, the newly-married pair, who have known each other for ten years, put their happiness on display as they took a ride through the town in a horse-drawn carriage.
