Katy Perry named MTV's US artist of the year
Katy Perry has been named MTV's artist of the year in the US.
The pop siren eclipsed Adele for the honour.
The broadcaster said Katy's achievement of tying with Michael Jackson on five No 1 singles from the same album made her omnipresent in pop culture.
The Teenage Dream singer, who is married to funnyman Russell Brand, is trying for a sixth with The One That Got Away.
Meanwhile, Adele's hit Rolling in the Deep was named song of the year.
