King of Spain's grandson released from hospital

Felipe Juan Froilan – King Juan Carlos of Spain’s eldest grandchild – has been released from hospital after accidentally shooting himself in the foot.

The teenager was participating in a target practice session on his family estate when the 36-calibre shotgun went off.

But the young royal has made a speedy recovery, and was pictured being driven home by his mother, Elena of Spain.

Felipe was enjoying some time with his father Jamie de Marichalar – now divorced from Elena – when the accident happened.

The palace released a statement saying the teenager: "will continue to receive care and undergo rehabilitation at home".

Spanish authorities are now investigating the incident.
