TV host hits nerve after asking Gordon if he still cooks

It doesn't take much for celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to boil over but BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull certainly got him simmering this week.

When he asked the chef if he actually cooked his own food in his numerous restaurants, Gordon launched into a trademark fiery outburst.

"When you go and spend £500 on an Armani suit and you are happy with it, you don't ask the lady at the desk whether it was Georgio himself who stitched it."

"'You sound sad. I am 42 years of age. I have been at the stove for 21 years, I want a life outside my kitchen, sorry. Would you like me to polish your shoes Bill, come on, get a life."

And as the conversation ended, Gordon threw down a lighthearted gauntlet.

"After your two-hour (presenting) stint, come to my kitchen and I'll show you what a proper day's work is all about," he challenged.

The chef was on BBC Breakfast to launch a range of Seriously Good cooking sauces which will raise money for Comic Relief.

The campaign will see 10p from the sale of every jar going to the charity and Lenny Henry (inset) has also given his backing to the cause.
