Nicole Richie responding well to hospital treatment

US socialite Nicole Richie is being treated in hospital after falling ill with pneumonia.

The 28-year-old checked herself into the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday night after suffering a respiratory infection for days.

Nicole's publicist has revealed that she is "responding well to treatment".

A regular user of Twitter, the mum-of-two told fans at the weekend that she had been feeling under the weather.

"OK cold, it's been 6 days. Let's part ways graciously & keep it moving," she posted.
