Paul Weller's support for cyclist Bradley Wiggins

Friday July 20, 2012

'Modfather' Paul Weller has issued a message of support to Tour de France competitor Bradley Wiggins.

The cyclist, who already has three Olympic gold medals, is known for his penchant for Mod culture - the lifestyle movement that peaked in the Sixties.

Bradley taught himself to play the guitar, collects classic scooters and has co-designed a range of cylcewear for the Fred Perry fashion label. He also sports a Mod look inspired by his idol, Paul.

Tipped to win the Tour de France, Bradley was spurred on by the artist who said: "I want to wish Bradley luck for the Tour de France. It's great he's doing so well and shows that all the years of hard workpay off. Good luck mate."

If the 32-year-old Londoner wins the race he will be the first Briton to do so. The closest a British rider has come was Bradley himself when he came fourth in the event three years ago.

Bradley, who lives with wife Catherine and their two children, Ben and Isabella in Eccleston, Lancashire, should cross the finish line in Paris on Sunday.
