Andy Warhol's king of pop portrait scoops over $1m at auction

A portrait of Michael Jackson by late US artist Andy Warhol has been purchased by an anonymous bidder at a New York auction.

Although the final sale price has not been disclosed, the buyer is thought to have paid over $1m  for the the silk-screen piece, which portrays the 50-year-old singer in his mid-80s Thriller era.

Giving potential buyers the chance to check it out before the sale, the iconic artwork was previously displayed at London's O2 arena - where Michael was due to perform his final concerts.
