SpiderMan actress found hanged days before 29th birthday

Lucy Gordon, the pretty British actress who played a roving reporter in SpiderMan 3 was discovered by police hanged in her Paris flat on Wednesday. 

"This was a clear and very tragic case of suicide. There are no suspicious circumstances," say police. The actress' agent also confirmed his client had taken her own life. 

In her eight-year career Oxford-born Lucy, who was a keen Francophile, made 12 films. She appeared in the Perfume and had a key role in romantic comedy The Russian Dolls in which she shared the screen with Amelie star Audrey Tautou. A French comedy, Cineman, in which she features is due out later in the year,

Describing Lucy as "a hugely promising young actress" a spokesperson for the Cannes Film Festival said: "We are devastated by this news. All those attending the festival had been hugely impressed by Lucy's work. She was a star in the making." 

Lucy recently completed a movie in which she stars as Jane Birkin, the wife of French singer Serge Gainsbourg.
