Olympic champion Chris Hoy has been selected to be Britain's flag bearer at the opening ceremony for London 2012.
Sir Chris, who won three golds in Beijing, was the choice out of 542 Team GB athletes polled by the British Olympic Association.
He said: "I'm absolutely delighted and honoured to have been voted as the flag bearer for Team GB.
"To lead out your team at a home Olympics is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that that I can't wait to experience in just a few days time."
Whoever comes second in the poll will be given the honour of taking the oath on behalf of the 10,500 competitors taking part.
The athlete will commit his fellow competitors "to a sport without doping and without drugs, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honour of our teams."
