Emperor Akihito tells well-wishers his health is improving

Joined at the Imperial Palace by his wife Empress Michiko, Crown Prince Naruhito and Princess Masako, the Japanese Emperor marked his 75th birthday by assuring the nation his health is "improving gradually" following a recent illness
