Donald Trump was among the first people to congratulate Jimena Navarrete as she was crowned Miss Universe 2010.
As owner of the pageant, the US mogul was on hand to celebrate with the 22-year-old Mexican – resplendent in a ruby red gown.
Jimena received a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy, a year's supply of shoes, dresses and beauty products, and, of course, a diamond-encrusted tiara.
This year's Miss Universe was hosted by singer Bret Michaels and Today's Natalie Morales, and judges included magician Criss Angel, Jane Seymour and William Baldwin.
It was held in the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.
Jamaica's Yendi Phillipps was named first runner-up, and Jesinta Campbell from Australia came in third.
Jimena was crowned by outgoing Miss Universe, Stefania Fernandez from Venezuela.
