Sir Elton John cancels Las Vegas shows

Sir Elton John has cancelled three Las Vegas performances on doctors' orders after being taken to hospital with a respiratory infection.

Officials from Caesars Entertainment said the Your Song singer came down with the infection last weekend and was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre on Wednesday. He was later released.

Doctors have recommended he does not perform for a week and takes antibiotics.

The Thursday, Saturday and Sunday performances of The Million Dollar Piano have been cancelled as a result.

Sir Elton said in a statement he is sorry he cannot be with his fans.

The Million Dollar Piano launched in September for a three-year run and features the singer's classic songs.
