Salt Awareness Week, from March 26 to April 1, raises awareness about the damaging effect of too much salt.
Its aim is to reduce salt intake and prevent strokes.
High salt intake has been linked to high blood pressure, which is the main cause of strokes and a major cause of heart attacks.
With a few simple changes it is easy to control the amount of salt in our diet.
