A slice of cake from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding has been put up for auction and is expected to make around £2000.

The fruit cake, created by Fiona Cairns and adorned with symbolic flowers, comes in a unique commemorative, presentation tin and also includes a compliment card from Prince Charles and Camilla.

When another piece of the iconic cake went to auction earlier this year it fetched an impressive £1,917 as there were only 650 original slices in total. 

Three other slices of royal wedding cake are also set to be sold as part of the same auction - one from the 1981 marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer and one from Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's wedding in 1986.

A slice of the original cake from the marriage of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips in 1973 is also up for grabs.

Cake is not the only edible memento from a royal wedding that has gone up for sale, in July 2012 a slice of toast taken from Prince Charles and Diana wedding breakfast made £230 at auction.
