'X Factor's Gamu Nenghu launches appeal in court

Gamu Nenghu, who became a familiar face after appearing on The X Factor, has launched her appeal in court to stay in the UK.

The singer's lawyers said they were "hopeful" she would be allowed to remain in the country after the Home Office agreed to reconsider her case.

A new decision is expected within weeks, solicitors have said.

Gamu was in the country as a dependant while her mother studied at university. But when her mother's student visa expired the family's application to stay was rejected.

They were asked to leave last month and return to Zimbabwe or face deportation.
