After resting from official duties since being hospitalised with pneumonia at the start of the year, Belgium's Queen Fabiola seemed to have made a good recovery as she attended her first public engagement this week since news of the illness was announced.
The 80-year-old matriarch, clad in a lilac and pink ensemble, joined fellow Belgian royals Princess Astrid, Princess Mathilde and Princess Clare at the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition - one of the world's most prestigious - hosted in the royal palace at Brussels.
Madrid-born Fabiola, who looked relaxed and well, was in good spirits at the event. Royal watchers were concerned in January when she spent 15 days in hospital. At the time the palace said her condition was serious but stable.
