Used to topping music charts around the globe, multi-talented Beyonce Knowles is enjoying similar success in the box office version, securing the number one spot with her new thriller Obsessed.
The stalking drama, which also stars Heroes actress Ali Larter and British actor Idrid Elba of The Wire fame, tells the story of a husband and wife – played by the 27-year-old singer – whose marriage is threatened by the attentions of an obsessive new temporary worker.
So successful is the new film - which goes on general release in the UK on May 29 - it took more than £19.6 million on its opening weekend and knocked Zac Efron comedy 17 Again into second place.
