Balloon tribute for Dai Llewellyn at laughter-filled memorial

Balloon tribute for Dai Llewellyn at laughter-filled memorial

Ingrid Tarrant and her pals arrive at a memorial service at St Paul's church in London's Knightsbridge holding balloons bearing the image of the late Welsh bon viveur, who died aged 62 in January. She was joined by his younger brother Sir Roddy, with whom he reconciled shortly before passing away following years of public feuding.
During the service Roddy, who once dated Princess Margaret and has now inherited the family baronetcy, read A Letter To His Wife by Evelyn Waugh, while actor Robert Powell read a poem by Pablo Neruda. Loved ones gathered to celebrate Dai's life also listened to the words of Somewhere from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story.
The memorial follows a funeral in Suffolk, which was attended by Sarah, Duchess of York, a friend of Dai's from the international social scene.
