Samantha Cameron helps out in homeless kitchen

Tuesday March 30, 2010

Samantha Cameron was showing her kind-hearted side as she lent a hand in a homeless shelter this week.

With an apron covering her burgeoning baby bump, the wife of Conservative leader David Cameron, helped prepare and serve lunch at The Passage - a shelter which runs a day centre for homeless people in Victoria, London.

"We were delighted to welcome Samantha. She showed a genuine interest in our work and a genuine interest in our clients," says the charity's chief executive, Mick Clarke.

"We like to think that a homeless person's first step into The Passage is their first step out of homelessness. We are really about a hand up as opposed to a hand-out."

A Conservative Party spokeswoman said: "The Conservative Party has a strong relationship with The Passage. Members of staff from Conservative Campaign Headquarters regularly volunteer at the centre."
