Her sister Kylie, also thrilled with the new arrival, hotfooted it from the other side of the world to be with the family in Australia, where they are based for Dannii's maternity leave

19 JULY 2010

As every parent of a tiny newborn baby knows, the smallest event in the precious new life presents a photo op.

So X Factor judge Dannii Minogue and her partner Kris Smith – who welcomed their son Ethan on July 5 - have been busying capturing each second of his life and shared some of the results with their fans.

The proud mum and dad took their little one – now 13 days old - on his first shopping expedition for some clothes to cope with the Australian winter.

During the 38-year-old's maternity leave, the trio will be based in Melbourne.

Coincidentally it also meant that the little fellow was kitted out with some cute togs for the arrival of Dannii's big sister Kylie.

Rugby player-turned-model Kris posted snaps of his love clearly relishing her new role and smiling as radiantly as she was in the pictures the couple posted immediately after the birth.

"First day out for the whole family, Dannii running up a storm in Mothercare," he told fans via Twitter.

"Sleeping peacefully, Ethan was amazing as always today... Such a good good boy just like his dad ;-)."

And this was a sentiment that his overjoyed auntie could certainly agree with. On touching down at Melbourne airport, Kylie went straight to check out the new family.

After her visit the pop princess tweeted: "Yes...yes.....YYYYEEESSS Baby Ethan is adorable, perfect and scrumptious!!!"
