Eight million US viewers regularly tune into Gordon Ramsay's show Hell's Kitchen, making it one of the biggest ratings winners in the States. The Glaswegian superchef, who owns a series of Michelin-starred restaurants in the UK and is in the process of opening a new eaterie in Manhattan, has served up a ratings winner across the pond on the back of the series' success in his homeland.
The Monday-night show - which has been commissioned for a third series - only differs in that real people instead of celebrities compete to impress the fiery tempered culinary ace in his kitchen-based boot-camp. As in the UK, the former professional footballer has titillated audiences with his foul-mouthed tirades, leading him to being likened to a culinary Simon Cowell.
