Russell Crowe's wife Danielle had a relaxing day out Down Under with the couple's son Charlie this week, hours before the actor was arrested, and briefly jailed, for losing his temper.
The images, taken on Sunday, show mum and toddler enjoying the sun in Sydney as dad Russell was in New York. It was Danielle that the actor was attempting to call – missing his family, he says – when he allegedly threw a phone at a hotel employee the following day.
But to hear Russell tell it, Danielle isn't sporting such a smile anymore. The star issued a very public apology to his spouse, saying: "I will spend the rest of my life if it takes it, trying to make it up with my wife."
Appearing on The Late Show With David Letterman, the Gladiator star explained that the whole "shameful" incident began because he was only trying to be a good husband with the 4am call. "I'm trying to fill my basic obligations to my wife, who needs to know that I'm at home, I'm in bed, I haven't had too much to drink and that, most importantly, I'm alone," he said. "These are questions that every wife has the right to have answered every night, and that's my duty."
The Hollywood actor also said he hoped to apologise directly to the hotel employee who was injured in the fracas. |
