The 42-year-old was accompanied by his long-time partner Kenny Goss when he arrived for the premiere in Mayfair's Curzon cinema. Both men have been in the headlines in recent days after George confirmed they were planning to 'wed' early next year.
Speaking to journalists outside the bash, the singer said he was especially pleased his former Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgeley agreed to take part in the production. "I am so thrilled," he said. "He is all over the movie. He is such a big part of my life. I think Andrew changed my life very, very positively."
The 95-minute film charts George's rise to fame as an Eighties pop idol through to his arrest for lewd conduct in 1998 and his decision to go public with his sexual orientation.
When asked about his plans to tie the knot with Kenny, the performer explained he simply wanted his partner of ten years to have the same legal protection as a heterosexual couple might expect. "We won't be doing the whole veil and gown thing," he said. "I'm not very romantic about it to be honest. We want to do it, just in case. You never know, I could get hit by a bus and the poor man could have nothing."
Also in attendance at the glitzy event was Welsh hunk Ioan Gruffudd and his partner Alice Evans, along with actress Denise Van Outen and opera star Charlotte Church. |
