17 MARCH 2004
The Prince Of Wales visited the Spanish Embassy on Tuesday to offer his condolences for last week's terrorist atrocities in Madrid. The future king, who was dressed in a black tie, was greeted by Spain's current ambassador, the Marquis de Tamaron.

"I hope that gradually things will improve, but it is an awful horror," said the royal, before leaving a message of sympathy in the book of condolences.

"The Prince asked whether any of our relations had been wounded. I said they hadn't," revealed the Marquis afterwards. "He offered words of comfort and said what happened in Spain was a frightful thing that was also a danger throughout the world."
