Europe's royals have been converging on Athens to see the world's leading athletes battling it out for Olympic glory. The royal households of Spain, Sweden and Monaco have all been doing their best to show support for their countries' sportsmen and women this week.
Greek-born Queen Sofia of Spain was photographed at the Spain-Germany soccer match with one of her five grandchildren, Juan. Five-year-old Juan is the son of the Infanta Cristina, who met her husband Iñaki Urdangarin at the 1996 Games in Atlanta, where he was competing in the basketball.
Monaco's Prince Albert, who has himself competed in the Games, was meanwhile busying himself with handing out medals. The 46-year-old presented the silverware in both the women's cycling and swimming events. And he also had an encounter with some beach beauties when America's Misty May and Kerri Walsh beat their Brazilian counterparts in the volleyball competition.
Sweden's royal family was also represented, with King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia and their son Carl Philip cheering on the Swedish equestrian team. Dressed in crisp blue blazers and white trousers, the royal trio clapped enthusiastically as their country's riders took bronze in the team event.
