Princess Caroline played host to some of the dance world's most talented movers and shakers at the weekend, when the Nijinsky Awards were staged in Monte Carlo.
Many of the finest performers and choreographers from all over the planet made their way to Monaco for the glitzy event. But the guest list wasn't limited to the high-flyers of ballet, because fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld and Hollywood actress Neve Campbell were likewise seen mingling in the majestic Salle de Princes.
Neve is something of an expert on the art form, having been a dancer herself since the tender age of nine. The 31-year-old, who trained at Canada's prestigious National Ballet School, even showed off her skills on the big screen when she played an aspiring ballerina in Robert Altman's The Company.
Caroline, meanwhile, has been a fan since she took lessons in her early teens. These days the 47-year-old is president of the Monte Carlo Ballet, which was founded by her iconic mother Princess Grace.
The annual awards ceremony - named after legendary Russian performer Vaslav Nijinsky - is intended to pay tribute to excellence in dance. This year Nicolas Le Riche from the Paris National Opera took the trophy for best male, while Romanian beauty Alina Cojocaru, who is a principal with London's Royal Ballet, was honoured as best female. |
