A ten-day cruise around Scotland is not the first port of call for those seeking a summer tan.

So this week, having recently returned from a family break around the Western Isles on a five star cruise ship, Prince Andrew was seen really soaking up the sun in the Mediterranean.

The Duke of York is holidaying in Sardinia along with a group of friends on board a luxury super yacht, and on Thursday was seen lunching on dry land with some of his companions.

One friend in particular has caught the eye of the press – a particularly attractive brunette who was seen chatting with the casually-attired prince.

The dark-haired beauty has also been photographed in a cutaway white swimsuit larking around with Andrew, 50, on the boat.

But romance reports are wide of the mark. "She is the wife of another man on board, is staying with the family of guests, and has categorically no link to the Duke." a royal aide has said.

The photos of dad-of-two Andrew relaxing in warmer climes come after police confirmed three intruders broke into Windsor Great Park, the home he shares with daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

After realising they had been caught on CCTV, they left empty-handed.

Andrew, Beatrice and Eugenie were in Scotland at the time, while Sarah was on holiday in Spain.
