As a model and regular attendee at the world’s most exclusive fashion events, it was little surprise that Lady Amelia Spencer selected the most spectacular of bridal gowns for her wedding to Greg Mallett last week, which was covered in a world exclusive by HELLO!.

Amelia, the niece of Diana, Princess of Wales, was radiant in a custom Atelier Versace wedding dress, which was crafted over the course of two and a half months from custom silk rebrodé lace and featured a two-and-a-half metre train, Swarovski crystals, a hand-embroidered neckline and structured shoulders, with intricate flower patterns running throughout.

It was paired with an elegant five-metre-long veil made out of fine silk tulle and Jimmy Choo shoes.

"I'm the luckiest girl in the world. It’s honestly the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen," said Amelia, whose choice of designer would surely have pleased her late aunt Diana, a close friend of Gianni Versace and a wearer of his designs.

"I think she would be very proud to see me on my wedding day. I know the Versace family also absolutely love Diana, so there’s a very special connection that we have," said Amelia, who was only five years old when Diana passed away in 1997.

It was in September last year, at an intimate dinner following Versace’s Milan Fashion Week show, that John Idol [the CEO of Versace’s parent company Capri Holdings], offered to dress Amelia for her special day.

"I couldn’t think of a better brand. It’s been the happiest experience working with Versace; every single member of their team were like angels," Amelia told HELLO!.

Recalling the emotional moment she saw her dress in person for the first time, during one of her fittings, for which she was joined by twin sister Lady Eliza and older sister Lady Kitty, Amelia said: "My eyes filled up [with tears], so did my sisters'. When I put it on, I was just so happy and grateful that it was my dream dress, I didn't change one thing. It fit like a glove."

All the exclusive wedding photos are in HELLO! magazine this week.
