Strictly Come Dancing star Aljaz Skorjanec was almost reduced to tears during an emotional reunion with his family via video link on Wednesday's Morning Live.

The 30-year-old was in utter shock when he saw his loved ones appear on the television screen behind host Gethin Jones, who said: "Well I tell you what, let's see what they think of that comment right now because they are watching Morning Live from Slovenia."

The pro dancer, who had sent his family a message in Slovenian prior to the unveiling, was surprised to see both his parents and his sister Lara with her husband. "Lara, have you got a message for your brother here? I can just see by your smiles how happy you are to see each other," remarked Gethin.

Lara then responded: "Yes, it's a year last time we hug and kiss and really can't wait to hug you again. Yeah, just like you said, it's FaceTime and everything so we should see each other and call you. We are missing you so much and love you and can't wait to hug you."

An emotional Aljaz replied with: "Awww," before he spoke directly to the camera in his native Slovenian.

Aljaz and wife Janette recently spent their first Christmas without their families

The virtual reunion comes shortly after Aljaz and his wife Janette Manrara spent their first Christmas without their families. Christmas, which usually sees the couple travel to Janette's family in Miami or to Aljaz's in Slovenia, was spent at home with just the two of them.

"Janette cooked the turkey and I helped and we watched our favourite Christmas movies, Home Alone and The Holiday," Aljaz revealed to HELLO!. "Christmas is such a family holiday and we missed our families, but the two of us are family now so we didn't feel lonely."
