Keanu Reeves and his longtime girlfriend, Alexandra Grant, have become one of Hollywood's favorite couples thanks to their low-key, genuine romance. The duo has been together since 2019 and were recently rumored to have married in a "secret" ceremony in Europe over the summer, but they have since both denied the claims, taking a playful approach to set the record straight. Alexandra is a talented visual artist who has made a name for herself through her multidisciplinary work. As Keanu's partner, she has garnered attention for their authentic connection and down-to-earth approach to their relationship.
In an interview with People, Keanu shared a tender moment he experienced with Alexandra, describing how they were "connected," "smiling and laughing and giggling" while in bed together. "A couple of days ago with my honey. We were in bed. We were connected. We were smiling and laughing and giggling. Feeling great. It was just really nice to be together," he said. Alexandra's career
Alexandra is an accomplished artist with a background in painting, drawing, sculpture, and video. Her art often explores the connections between language, communication, and human relationships. She has exhibited her work in prestigious galleries and museums, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Galerie Gradiva in Paris, and the Harris Lieberman Gallery in New York.
Additionally, she is a philanthropist who founded the grantLOVE project in 2008, which raises funds for non-profit organizations through the sale of her artwork. Speaking to People, Alexandra credited her romance with the John Wick star for improving her art. "I had a studio visit a few years ago, and this very kind, very high-level person said, 'I can see that your work has gotten happier,'" she told the publication. "That's real. We're all human beings. We're animals. We're expressing from where we are. I think the work is happier."
First meeting
The pair's connection dates back years, and while they've never provided an exact timeline of their relationship, they did initially meet at a dinner party back in 2009, according to The New York Times Style Magazine, and just two years later, they collaborated on the 2011 book Ode to Happiness and the 2016 series Shadows, establishing a solid creative and personal partnership. They made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in November 2019, which Alexandra told Vogue had "every single person" she knew calling her after.
Their friend and actress Jennifer Tilly revealed that Keanu and Alexandra had been dating for several years before their relationship surfaced publicly. According to Jennifer, Keanu and Alexandra's low-key approach to their relationship has garnered admiration. Jennifer said: "I think everybody wishes that they had something like that. It's not a razzle-dazzle Hollywood romance."
Alexandra, meanwhile, previously admitted that she is grateful to have found love with Keanu later in life. "He's such an inspiration to me," she told People in September 2023. "He's so creative, he's so kind. He works so hard," she added: "The good news about falling in love as an adult is that I had built my own career by the time that my relationship had begun. I feel very confident in the relationship on the red carpet. I feel confident on it alone."
Romance with Keanu
Alexandra opened up to Vogue about her mixed emotions regarding her decision to publicize her relationship, saying: "I think every single person I knew called me in the first week of November, and that's fascinating, but the question I've been asking in all of this is: 'What is the opportunity for good?'" She added that "love at every level is deeply important" to her identity and expressed her belief in the value of being in relationships, saying: "I do not believe that isolation is the way. There is a period of isolation that I do as a painter, but I deeply value the experience of being in relationships."
Secret wedding
In September 2025, Keanu and Alexandra caused speculation that they had taken their relationship to the next level after the visual artist was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger, followed by reports that they had "secretly" tied the knot during an intimate ceremony in Europe over the summer. However, Keanu later addressed the rumors surrounding his relationship status and broke his silence on whether he and Alexandra are now officially husband and wife. "It is not true," Keanu's publicist told E! News in a statement. "They are not married."
Alexandra also denied the reports by poking fun at the marriage rumors and thanking fans for the congratulatory messages while reaffirming Keanu's statement that they did not tie the knot. "This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement... simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it... given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!) We're at Roden Crater, and Keanu and Gard had just finished interviewing James Turrell for Visionaries," she wrote alongside a photo of them kissing while sitting on steps during their visit to Roden Crater, an art installation by artist James Turrell, in Arizona.
Alexandra added: "I'm sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn't get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it's still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here's a bit of real happiness!"
In 2020, Alexandra shared her views on marriage in an interview with Vogue, telling the publication: "Love at every level is deeply important to my identity. How's that for dodging the question? I do not believe that isolation is the way. There is a period of isolation that I do as a painter, but I deeply value the experience of being in relationships."
