Sarah Jessica Parker explains cryptic Instagram post

Sarah Jessica Parker caused a social media frenzy on Tuesday when she shared a cryptic post on Instagram, leading fans to believe a third Sex and the City film was confirmed. However, fans of the hit TV series may have to wait a little longer – the mother-of-three has since revealed that her excitement was actually because her eponymous shoe collection is moving to iconic department store Bloomingdales.

"Pinch me, I'm dreaming," the actress wrote on the Instagram account for her shoe line. "After months and months of sworn secrecy, I can finally shout the news from the rooftop. Or even better, from the iconic @bloomingdales awning.

"Welcome to New York, @sjpcollection. You're going to love it here. Finally, a permanent home in NYC."

The star did acknowledge that her previous post could have been misleading for fans who are awaiting confirmation as to whether a third film version of the original HBO series will be happening.

"Ps. Forgive me for any previous misunderstandings," she continued in the caption. "Twenty lashes with a wet noodle. Yours forever, Sj x".

A previous post on her Instagram fuelled rumours of a third Sex and the City film

The first post, which sparked the initial frenzy, saw Sarah Jessica crossing a street in New York, in what could have easily been a stylish outfit from her alter ego Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe.

"Well. I guess the cat's out of the (little brown) bag," she captioned the snap, alluding of course to Bloomingdale's world famous shopper bags. "As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able. I'm under strict gag order until then. Xx, Sj."

Sex and the City fans should not be left disheartened – the original HBO series' creator Michael Patrick King has previously revealed that he has ideas for more storylines should another project be confirmed in the future.

"Sarah Jessica and I both know what the final chapter is," he told Entertainment Weekly. "That doesn't mean it will or should be told, but I do think there's one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation.

"But there's four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven't even been written yet."
