Cindy wows Sydney as she talks image and supermodels

Cindy Crawford happily reminisced about her 90s heyday as one of the original supermodels when she stepped out in Sydney this week. The glamorous mum-of-two, who was in town to open Omega's new boutique in her role as the luxury watch brand's ambassador, described the decade as "an amazing time".

"Gianni Versace loved making the models larger than life because he realised that would bring attention to his clothes if we were wearing them. It just became this thing and everyone got bigger and bigger… Now you might be the 'It' girl for one or two seasons, but you don't have that time to get that familiarity with the public that we had in the 90s," she added.

Her visit Down Under certainly proved the Australian public's familiarity with the 41-year-old covergirl as fans lined the streets to get a close-up peep at the famous beauty. Looking stunning in a black dress accessorised with a rope of pearls, Cindy admits she has never been happier with her body. "I have more self confidence," she says. "Also I appreciate my body for all that it's done. Most importantly giving birth to two children."

Far from putting her feet up, she is busier than ever with her lucrative ambassadorships while she also has her own make-up line, Meaningful Beauty, and a successful furniture line, Cindy Crawford Home. During her stop-over in Sydney it wasn't all work and no play as she caught up with former catwalk colleague Gail Elliot who is based in Sydney.

Gail and her husband Jo were among the local glitterati joining Cindy for the Omega bash. "We've been friends for 20 years," enthused Cindy. "I met Gail when I started modelling at some show and we've been through a few marriages, my children, her moving here and starting her own business and supporting each other in life as friends do."
