With Europe continuing its weeks-long battle with high temperatures, finding elegant clothing for the sunny weather can prove challenging. But one heatwave style muse who seems to brush off the warmth with ease is Amal Clooney.
Aside from her enviable collection of chic mini dresses, the human rights lawyer has schooled us on how to make shorts look glamorous for every occasion. Dressing up for date night with George Clooney in July 2015, Amal was spotted leaving a restaurant at Lake Como in silky white shorts covered with a large polka dot print, which wouldn't look out of place today.
Silk and satin shorts have had a resurgence as an alternative to traditional denim, with major design houses like Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent showcasing everything from delicate lace-trimmed styles to athletic-inspired silk boxers.

Dressing down
Two years ago, in 2024, Amal proved that she is just as equipped at dressing down, stepping out in effortless denim shorts with her Oscar-winning husband.
The happy couple beamed as they visited an eatery near their beautiful chateau in the south of France, where they moved with their twins Alexander and Ella in 2021.
The frayed denim was paired with a lacy top and mesh mules for the ultimate daytime date look.
'Eccentric' style

However, Tomorrowland star George described her style as "eccentric" as he gushed about her ability to show off her personality with her outfits alongside her serious career.
"It's amazing, because she's always – since the day I met her – had this insanely... it's eccentric but it's fun, sense of fashion. How she does it while she's got 11 cases she's working on, and she was teaching at Columbia, and she's still like, 'I want to wear that dress.' It's crazy. It has been sort of fascinating to watch," he told Entertainment Tonight in 2015.
