Rob Brydon has opened up about the future of Gavin and Stacey film, and it's not looking like good news for fans unfortunately! Speaking in an interview with Digital Spy, he admitted that he felt making a movie version of the popular sitcom would be a "mistake".

He explained: "It’s not a film. It’s not a cinema thing. It is what it is, and I don't hold film over television. There’s sometimes an assumption that if it were to become a film it would somehow be elevating itself, and I think that’s a misnomer. I think that’s a mistake. I think that maybe, if James and Ruth decided to make another special, that would be wonderful."

The actor, who plays Bryn in the hit show, also opened up about the infamous fishing trip, admitting that even he has no idea exactly what happened. He said: "I don't know. It's never been told to me, and I don't think Ruth [Jones] and James [Corden] know.

Rob opened up about a potential film

"I think it was always just a very funny idea they had, that wouldn't it be funny if there was some elephant in the room, if there was some huge thing that hung over the family but was never talked about... I honestly don't know and I like the fact we don't know. I think it's great. I think it would be a shame if we ever found out."

Chatting on Lorraine back in September, co-creator Ruth also spoke about the future of the show saying: "It's lovely that people ask me and I do get asked a lot - people always apologise before asking me... I wish I could say yes [we have written more episodes].

Would you like to see more Gavin and Stacey?

"The truth is, as has always been the case, James and I love to write together in the same room and that's just not possible at the moment because he is in America and I'm here in the UK. There aren't any plans at the moment but who knows!"
