Avoid like the plague or embrace with open arms? Irrespective of your Valentine's Day approach, the date is fast approaching. Forget petal-strewn sheets and grand gestures, February 14 is all about thematic fashion, honey.

The perfect opportunity to celebrate love in all its forms (unrequited or otherwise) but more importantly, for fashion fanatics, V-Day presents the prime time to dress up in something slightly special.

Special doesn't just refer to waist-cinching mini dresses and heels, by the way. A silky set of pyjamas, matching tracksuits and playful accessories also do the trick - depending on what you have planned for the divisive, love-drunk day.

For those wanting to go all out on the fashion front, there is ample runway inspiration to glean ideas from. Sure, you have Valentino Pink, but let's be real - that is so AW23. Moving forward, we're thinking Simone Rocha bows hailing from the designer's AW25 runway, which married whimsical pink fabrics with Mob Wife-inspired furs. The same season, Chanel championed chunky knitwear, funnelling red-pink ensembles draped in pearls down the catwalk (ideal for mooching at home - if you have the budget.)

Florals are also a timeless option. Dolce & Gabbana never shies away from a dramatic bloom, while Blumarine and Miu Miu favour a ditsy Y2K bouquet. Likewise, Erdem and Huishan Zhang can't resist a sartorial gardenscape, opting for sequinned petals that radiate elegance with every step.

The H! Fashion team share what to wear on the most romantic night of the year:

"I am the cheesiest person ever when it comes to Valentine's Day and I will be wearing red loud and proud on the big day. My husband will be forced to buy me roses and champagne and the heels will be immediately kicked off so we can watch back-to-back rom-coms despite his protests."

"Vintage aesthetics will always influence my outfit choices - even for Valentine's Day. This beautiful bohemian Chloé jacket in raspberry pink velvet costs a small(ish) fortune, but I would be willing to trade a kidney for it. A touch of lace never goes amiss when prepping for date night, so naturally my mind went to Vivienne Westwood's ever-popular heart accessories for some thematic arm candy. "

"When in doubt (or in a rush), wearing the same colour palette from head-to-toe is a failproof way of ensuring your ensemble looks effortlessly polished. Burgundy is, of course, huge right now, which bodes well for Valentine's Day - putting a sophisticated twist on classic vibrant reds."

"If there's ever a day to colour block in all red, It has to be Valentine's Day. This year, I'm going all out (if you're my boyfriend reading this you might want to get a dinner reservation booked ASAP) and opting for a cosy-girl ensemble perfect to take me from a 6pm wine bar to a 7:30pm dinner date. Bows are obviously a must for any occasion, and I love how the dainty ones on the dress match perfectly with the Miu Miu hair barrette. Can we please also take a moment of silence for the velvet bag which has now gone straight to the top of my lust list?"

"Valentine's Fay fashion for me is all about having fun and being playful! I enjoy a cheeky 'love-heart' moment within my outfit which usually comes in the way of a love-heart tight. Paired with red check mini too add some Valentine's red and a long chic boot to attempt to regain some warmth."
