Cat Deeley is absolutely on fire with her fashion looks on This Morning, making us excited to shop for the new season. On Monday, she delivered an absolute stunner of a look in a wine red Rixo slinky dress but it's her dress on Tuesday's show that stopped me in its tracks for being unusual, yet totally wearable.

The Birmingham-born TV presenter, 49, cut a chic figure in a crisp, beige mini dress from Marks & Spencer, priced at a purse-friendly £22.50.

  • Cat Deeley, 49, opted for a cotton draped neck mini dress from Marks & Spencer, £22.50 / $88.99.
  • The chic mini is on sale, reduced by 50%.
  • It's an affordable style that's great for work, thanks to its crisp finish and draped collar.

This stylish mini is an unusual cut but it's so easy to wear. Not only did Cat give a great example of how to wear it - with a similar hue court shoe - but she chose a dress that's been reduced in the latest M&S sale by 50%.

If you're keen to jump on utilitarian trend, this is a great way to dip your toes into it. It's not only a nice, neutral shade but effortlessly flattering. With its longer sleeves its great for this time of year, and the tie-belt gives the mini a bit more shape. I love the interesting neckline too, tapping into this season's love affair with shawl collars and neck ties.

Editor's Note:

"This dress can be styled up for work with tights come winter, or left bare-legged. The dress is a 100% cotton with a tie belt, and draped collar - so chic."

It also looks super expensive, and for those who like a dress to be cooling, thanks to the 100% cotton fabric. Note the longer sleeves too, ideal for air conditioned offices.

It's currently available in sizes 6 - 18, in both petite and regular lengths. But a word of warning, it is currently classed as one of M&S' 'popular' items so I don't think it'll stay in stock for long. Considering it's been reduced from £45, I'm not at all surprised.

How Cat styled the M&S dress

Cat is the queen of pared back styling, leaving her accessories and makeup minimal to let the centre piece do the talking:

  • Shoes: Cat made the dress look more luxurious by adding a heeled shoe in a coordinating toe. Cat's look to be a transparent-toed heel, which I love for a point of difference.
  • Belt: Cat cinched her waist in further by swapping the dress' own tie belt with a vintage gold number from her own wardrobe. Love that!

How would I style Cat's £22.50 dress?

While I love how Cat's styled this dress, I'd for something a little less formal.

You could add a heeled ballet shoe or loafer to amp up the preppy look, or add a knee high boot in black or brown. Tights would work with this for the office, but I'd stay away from the opaques and go for a sheer brown shade.

Like Cat, you could swap the belt to one of your own - a leather brown would be a simple solution, or jazzy like a leopard print or studded.
