A floral print isn't my favourite, but I love when someone wears a predictable, classic print in an unexpected way. And trust Cat Deeley's latest This Morning outfit to make me reconsider florals as a strong contender for heatwave wardrobe.
The 49-year-old's blue floral print dress is so cool girl coded. It's calling for festivals in fields, or countryside weddings where you want to wear something that's not wedding guest dress 101.
- Cat Deeley wore a blue floral mini dress on This Morning, Tuesday 7 July.
- We tracked Cat's dress down to Marks & Spencer, priced at £50 / $97.99.
- It's currently available in all sizes, from 6 - 18.
Cat's dress is from high street favourite Marks & Spencer. Called the Lyocell Rich Floral Midi Dress, it has all the markings of a super-flattering dress. Created from a lyocell-rich fabric, its lightweight and designed with a regular fit.
What makes it super flattering is the ruched detailing at the side waist, hiding any parts you want to hide while adding definition. The strappy off-the-shoulder neckline is sweet too, while still being modest enough to wear it to formal events.
For me, it's the colourway of the floral dress that stands out. Rather than being typical pinks or purples, its a sweet cornflower blue with the floral print in a darker, coordinating shade.
Cat's been embracing prints more in her summer This Morning wardrobe, with embroidered florals, paisley and polka dots featuring more and more.
How to style Cat's dress
Cat has styled her dress with sleek, minimal style dark tan shoes. She kept her accessories to a minimum, and her mermaid hair and glowing beauty look bringing the vibes. You could easily add a chunkier, 70s style shoe to make the dress less formal, or a slim thong heel to bring it on trend.
To make it smarter, think tailoring; a cream or white blazer or a boucle cropped jacket, and court shoes would make it race day ready or as a formal wedding guest outfit.
Cat's floral dress lookalikes
The TV presenter's dress is handily, budget friendly, and the blue print is not too hard to find on the high street if you're looing for an alternative.
New Look's £25.99 is a little more conservative, with fluted cap sleeves and a crepe finish. Nobody's Child's tea dress is giving similar feels to Cat, with a blue floral print but in a classic tea dress silhouette.
